Typically falling on April 15th (April 18th this year), it’s a day that most men dread. No, we aren’t talking about your mother-in-law’s annual visit, but Tax Day. We’re givers here at Mancave Daily. So here’s a list of movies to watch while you do your taxes, movies that center around, well, taxes.

Taxes suck, but at least you’re not an IRS auditor like Will Ferrell, who begins to hear narrations of his life out of nowhere. Sure, it may be a bit of a subdued role for Will Ferrell; there’s no “Frank the Tank”-esque beer bonging. But this movie has its fair share of laughs and will make you thankful you aren’t an IRS auditor.


untouchables Movies To Watch While Doing Your TaxesThe Untouchables (1987)

 

The Brian De Palma epic follows government agent Eliot Ness (Kevin Costner) as he attempts to bring down gangster extraordinaire Al Capone (Robert De Niro). Renowned for his murders and prostitution rings, the mighty Capone succumbs to income tax evasion in the end. *Note (Spoiler Alert): The movie inaccurately depicts Capone’s trial. In reality, he was convicted to ten years in prison due to back taxes. However, in the movie, his lawyer changes Capone’s court plea from “not guilty” to “guilty without his consent. Since the movie is kick-ass we’ll leave it on the list.

Jake (John Belushi) and Elwood (Dan Aykroyd) are on “a mission from God” to save their childhood home—a Roman Catholic orphanage—that will be closed in 11 days unless they can pay $5,000 in property taxes. The only musical comedy a man is allowed to own in his mancave, The Blues Brothers is a hilarious movie filled with tons of cameos from the likes of Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, James Brown and John Candy amongst others.

What’s an aspiring hockey player to do when he discovers his grandmother’s house is about to be seized by the government due to $270,000 in back taxes? Simple: become a golfer, join the PGA Tour and get the money in tournament winnings. An Adam Sandler classic, the movie will be sure to lift your spirits as you fill out those tax forms.
